Taking the SAT and/or ACT
Most colleges and universities require either the SAT or ACT for admission and placement.  The vast majority of schools with accept your best score from either test, but some require that you take one or the other.  It is in your best interest to take both. The SAT II subject tests are required by some schools, and some require specific tests.  Check with the admissions office before you take any subject tests, so you will not be taking the wrong test or spending money on tests that are not required.
